About Our School
Gerald Dawkins Academy is a neighborhood school dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment for all students to learn, lead, aspire, and achieve! Students are provided with robust learning opportunities where they can participate in hands-on learning, STEM activities, intensive literacy instruction, as well as individualized supports. With small class sizes of 20 students or less, 1:1 technology, and SMART classrooms, students at Gerald Dawkins Academy will receive a personalized learning experience.

FOCUS ON LITERACY
Gerald Dawkins Academy will educate students in every subject area, while providing a strong focus on literacy. Establishing robust reading and writing skills is foundational for all students’ future academic success. Research would indicate students with low literacy skills are more likely to have low academic grades, increased school absences, and are four times more likely to drop out of school.
Gerald Dawkins Academy is focused on establishing strong literacy skills for all students. The Gerald Dawkins Academy teachers and support staff are highly trained in literacy instruction and are prepared to alter instruction based on individual student needs, while integrating reading and writing into all subject areas to ensure a well-rounded academic experience.
